Chair of the Climate Action Working Group and of the advertising industry’s think tank, Credos.

Currently, James holds the positions of Chair of the Committees of Advertising Practice, responsible for the UK advertising codes (CAP and BCAP), Chair of Credos, the advertising industry’s think-tank, and chairs Ad Net Zero’s Action 1 Working Group, helping the advertising industry’s drive to reduce the carbon impact of developing, producing and running advertising to real net zero by 2030.

He has been Chair of the Advertising Association, President of the European Association of Communications Agencies and a Council member of the IPA and the Advertising Standards Authority. He was previously Chairman of BMP DDB through the 1990s and CSO of the DDB global network in the 2000s.

James has a background in advertising agency planning and holds a deep understanding of, and familiarity with, the advertising ecosystem and its regulation.
