Welcome to the
Net Zero Festival 2020

Wednesday 30 September

The world has changed. The entire global economy has been forced to endure a tragic crash course in the importance of resilience and the intensity of environmental impacts. And yet, the 21st century's biggest long term threat and greatest economic opportunity remains constant: the climate crisis and our collective response.

As many commentators have noted, the coronavirus pandemic highlights the kind of multi-dimensional exponential threats that runaway climate change could unleash throughout the rest of the century. But in imposing a forced reset on the global economy, the crisis also presents a chance to build back better and engineer a recovery that enhances corporate and societal resilience, while
delivering the cleaner, healthier, net zero emission economy that is critical to averting the worst a climate catastrophe.

Any business wanting to enhance its resilience, to prepare for the next crisis, to tap into the latest investment, technological, and consumer trends, and retain its license to operate needs to be an active participant in the net zero transition. There is no time to waste, and no value in ignoring how climate change and the pursuit of a decarbonised economy are already transforming our world – that way lies obsolescence and value destroying stranded assets.

The world's first Net Zero Festival will this autumn bring together top business leaders, influential academics and policymakers, and inspirational thinkers to provide an invaluable guide to the economic and industrial revolution that will define the post-Covid world.

The need to move faster, together - to recover, better - has never been clearer. We invite all businesses to join us.

Faster, Together

The aim is simple: to provide business leaders with both the inspiration and the practical, actionable, advice required to develop and advance their own net zero strategies.

The rationale is equally simple: the climate crisis is real; the scale of the challenge is unprecedented; the net zero transition is happening and accelerating.

The goal is obvious: to demonstrate that a rapid transition towards a net zero economy by 2050 at the latest is not just possible, but is hugely desirable, is something worth celebrating.

Join us at BusinessGreen's inaugural Net Zero Festival 2020 – for leaders who won't wait until 2050 to build a better business, and a better world.

In 2020 BusinessGreen and Carbon Forward forged a partnership that established the Carbon Forward 2020 conference as the carbon market partner for the Net Zero Festival, unveiling plans to bring together hundreds of businesses from right across the economy to jointly explore how to accelerate both the next phase of the net zero transition and the crucial role of carbon markets in driving decarbonisation. More details on the partnership will be announced in due course.
